- Moon phase and separation from target
- Primary target and one bright backup
- Access, safety, land rules, and dark-sky etiquette

IN THE FIELD
- Preserve dark adaptation
- Stabilize binoculars or mount
- Start at low magnification
- Spend time before changing equipment
- Record what is actually visible

AFTER
- Note equipment and settings
- Note what failed and why
- Save raw files and source links
- Choose one change for the next session
